What up ya'll?! Up early this morning and making my daily green smoothie, I found myself left with the stems/stalks of a bunch of broccoli. Normally (since starting my green smoothies) after cutting all if the florets off a bunch, I had just been trashing the stems...but after a couple of times it really began to bother me too much (I hate throwing stuff away). So I decided to research the subject & find out the real deal...Should I really use them or lose them?
Well, the answer is a strong YES! Because, although they are a little less nutritious...they are "...notably higher in calcium & vitamin C" and contain a nice and healthy dose of dietary fiber! So, not only are they great for my smoothies, they can also be cut up and used/eaten just as well as the florets. And as they have a milder flavor... I would say that they kinda taste a little more like water chestnuts to me...more watery basically.
So anyway, that's all for today...thanks for visiting...
